Valentino Rossi the #46, son of former racer Graziano Rossi, born in Urbino, Italy on 16th February 1979, regarded as one of the greatest motorcycle racers ever. Valentino was riding bikes from an early age thanks to the influence of his father Graziano, himself a former Grand Prix winner. Starting from go-karts, Rossi at a young age progressed and quickly showed a talent for two-wheels, becoming regional champion in 1992. In the next couple of years he claimed many championships that finally led to secure him a ride in the World Championship in the year 1996.
Rossi made his world championship debut in 1996 World Championship at the Malaysian Grand Prix and won the 125cc title a year later on an Aprilia. Remaining with the Italian manufacturer, he moved up to the 250cc class and, after placing second overall in 1998, he won the championship in 1999. With two world titles under his belt, he graduated into the premier category and, after winning races in 2000 for Honda, he took the world championship in 2001, the last championship for the two-stroke NSR500.
More world titles followed for Honda before A sensational switch and instant success at Yamaha in 2004 and 2005. Fighting back after defeat in 2006 and 2007 Rossi came to be world champion in 2008 and 2009. After that, comes the doomed Ducati years in 2011 and 2012, which have proven to be his only disappointment in his 20-year Grand Prix career. Returning to Yamaha in 2013, he has since gone on to win more races and take more podiums. In the process he has won races with 500cc two-strokes, 990cc, 800cc and 1000cc four-strokes. Other than that, Valentino has also taken a record of 210 Grand Prix podiums.
Rossi's final win came at Assen 2017, while the final chapter for Rossi as a rider ended in 2021. After 26 seasons of grand prix racing and nine world championships, Valentino Rossi hung up his MotoGP leathers at the end of the 2021 season. Instead, Rossi is likely to be seen indulging his passion for four-wheel racing, particularly GT cars.
